Building Science Thermography - Level 1 Certification Course
The North Texas Chapter is pleased to provide this Level 1 Certification Course for Building Science Infrared Thermography!
This four day intensive course is designed to enable both new infrared camera users and practicing thermographers to become competent in the use of infrared thermography in commercial and residential building investigations. Participants who successfully complete the course, the required coursework/projects, and pass the exam will be provided a certificate for Level 1 Building Science Thermography.
This course includes lectures, instructor/group demonstrations, and hands on practice lessons. No previous infrared thermography experience is necessary. Some knowledge of basic building construction is helpful, but not required. It is recommended that students bring their own thermal imager for familiarity. Infrared cameras will not be provided.
Individuals completing the requirements for SWA Consulting’s Level I Building Science Thermography are considered competent as Building Science Thermographers, qualified to perform building thermographic analysis and basic infrared thermography as relevant to an advanced Level I Thermographer.
The completion of this course will serve to provide the student a clear understanding of thermal and building sciences and theuse of infrared thermography for investigating heat flow, air flow and moisture within buildings.
The course will be taught by
Scott Wood. Scott, the president of Scott Wood Associates, LLC, is an expert in Investigations of and training in building science and infrared thermography for pre and post-design, construction, air barrier, condition monitoring, restoration, and water intrusion. Scott has performed investigations on hundreds of buildings, discovering defects as well as providing corrective recommendations to prevent heat loss, air infiltration, and moisture intrusion. In addition, Scott Wood Associates, LLC has provided the expertise in developing and providing training in building science thermography through cooperation between the Building Science Institute and the Infrared Training Center since 2003.
Additional information is included in the attached PDF links below.
Please note the following:
- Attendance on all four days is mandatory.
- Attendees need to bring their own cameras or share a camera with a fellow attendee.
- Lunch will be provided each day.
- Last day to sign up is July 7th!
