The Mix in Time in 1909 - A Case Study of Gunter Hotel, San Antonio

Mr. Cogburn will discuss a recent exterior wall restoration project on a 1909 historic hotel in San Antonio, Texas INCLUDING whether the building is actually haunted.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES  

1: Historic work and what is required by local Historic Commission and by the National Parks Services when completing maintenance repairs on a historic property.

2: Initial Evaluation and Scope of Work issues on historic properties of mass wall construction.

3: Allowing for unknown conditions and having planned financial contingencies

Mr. Cogburn has been a long-standing member of IIBEC (RCI, Inc.) since receiving his membership over 25 years ago. Mr. Cogburn served as Chapter Secretary (2009-10), Treasurer (2010-2011), Vice President (2012-2013), and President (2013-2014) from the initial beginnings of the North Texas Chapter of IIBEC. He is currently an active member of both the North Texas Chapter and IIBEC serving on the Interface Editorial Peer Review Board. National and local Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute for 28 years.

In his 50 years working as an intern architect and as a licensed architect in the State of Texas, Mr. Cogburn has worked for a number of local architectural firms as a design / project architect. Beginning a second career in 1996 at Arnold & Associates, Inc., Mr. Cogburn completed hundreds of projects and evaluations of existing facilities all over the U.S. including work in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. He has recently visited all 50 states in the U.S. either with work or pleasure and has traveled to Senegal Africa, Brazil, Canada, Italy, and many Caribbean Islands. He and his wife, Pat, have 3 grown children, 7 grandchildren, and have been married for 52 years in May.
