Making Transitions: Keeping Air and Water Barriers Continuous.

The goal of this course is to understand how using integrated sheathing

solutions help streamline detailing and installation.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the role that building construction transitions play in achieving a well-designed building envelope, including conditions that contribute to failure.
2. Recognize the points in the design process where construction transitions need to be addressed
3. Review the conditions that promote the movement of bulk water, moisture, or vapor drive and how those conditions impact construction transition
4. Describe the importance of maintaining the continuity ofwater-resistive barriers and air barriers across construction transitions and assess integrated sheathing products and systems as a means to achieve that continuity.

Speaker Bio: 

Forrest is the Building Envelope Manager for Georgia-Pacific Gypsum covering South, Central and West Texas. In the construction industry since 2014, he has experience in below-grade waterproofing, air barrier systems and commercial roofing.

He received his MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2010 and has been certified through CSI as a Construction Documents Technologist since 2015.
